Lake Pichola

๐Ÿ“ Udaipur , Rajasthan , India

Lakes, palaces, mountains and temples embellish Udaipur. No picture will ever be able to encapsulate the beauty like you will experience in person. Lake Pichola is comprised of the hills surrounding Udaipur, lush vegetation and a beautiful lake of its own.

One of the larger and older lakes of Udaipur, Lake Pichola was created in 1362 by Maharana Lakha. It is rumored that when Maharana Udai Singh of Udaipur first gazed upon the beautiful Lake Pichola that he, too, was captivated and created a new city, Udaipur, on the shores of Lake Pichola. Udaipur’s other great Maharana, Udai Singh II, extended the lake in the 1700s by flooding the neighboring village of Picholi.

Many legends of ancient times are associated with Lake Pichola. Artists, poets and writers have been inspired by Lake Pichola, and guests that visit Udaipur are captivated as well. Lake Pichola beckons to you to experience it for yourself and capture its essence as authors like Kipling have done before you.
